What is PEMF?

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) creates a relaxed pulsing magnetic field that restores health to the body at the cellular level.

  • Cells are like batteries

All living cells generate a natural electrical charge as a result of ions moving in and out of cell membranes. Any threat to the cell, from injury to nutrient deficiency, alters the movement of the ion and changes the charge of the cell membrane. This altered charge hinders the cell from properly absorbing nutrients and oxygen and removing toxins and waste. The result is a loss of energy, pain and inflammation, swelling and ultimately disease.

  • ... and they need to be recharged

The pulsing magnetic field created by the Magnawave essentially exercises, recharges, and rehabilitates the cell back to optimal health. Blood flow increases and the cell is once again able to receive oxygen and nutrients and discard of waste and toxins. Recovery will begin, pain reduction will occur, inflammation will begin to dissipate. PEMF optimizes cell function and enhances the body’s natural ability to restore and recover itself.

PEMF is shown to:

Increase

  • PEMF helps create new microscopic blood vessels within tissue, which helps increase microcirculation throughout the body.

As a result, there is an increase in the positive path of blood flow by promoting ATP creation at the cellular level.

  • Muscles are the largest users of ATP and they require more oxygenated blood. Through exercise, muscles become fatigued.

Mitochondria are tiny energy generators located all over your body and PEMF increases the production of mitochondrial ATP that can result in feeling an energy boost.

  • PEMF can activate multiple intracellular pathways, including numerous processes and biochemical mechanisms within both the immune system and tissue regenerative processes, such as the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system (Source)

  • PEMFs stimulate osteoblastogenesis, suppress osteoclastogenesis, and influence the activity of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and osteocytes, ultimately leading to retention of bone mass and strength. (Source)

  • PEMF has shown to reduce inflammation and pain, as it improves circulation and regenerates blood cells. Better functioning cells help the body synthesize collagen, a major part of muscle elasticity which can ultimately result in an increase in range of motion and flexibility.

  • As PEMF therapy mechanically stimulates blood vessels and blood flow, the blood vessels pump blood and oxygen into the cells. Simultaneously, PEMF therapy mechanically stimulates the lymphatic vessels and waste products are hauled away from the cells more efficiently.

With faster recovery after workouts or injury, strength and stamina rises.

  • Neuromuscular Response is a set of biomechanical and viscoelastic properties about the myofascial tissue that prepare the muscle to perform a mechanical work as a result of muscular and nervous system function.

  • Pulsed PEMF therapy sends magnetic energy into the body. These energy waves work with your body’s natural magnetic field to improve healing. The magnetic fields help you to increase electrolytes and ions. This naturally influences electrical changes on a cellular level and influences cellular metabolism.

Decrease

  • Using PEMF to regulate cell signaling mechanisms involved in the inflammatory/immune response pathways of different cell types has become an innovative alternative treatment in the pursuit of regenerative therapies.

Several studies have reported that PEMF can modulate both cell surface receptor expression / activation and downstream signal transduction pathways, thereby restoring homeostatic cell functions such as viability, proliferation, differentiation, communication with neighboring cells, and interaction with components of the extracellular matrix (ECM).

PEMF can activate multiple intracellular pathways, including numerous processes and biochemical mechanisms within both the immune system and tissue regenerative processes, such as the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.

PEMFs are physical stimuli that affect biological systems through the production of coherent or interfering fields that modify fundamental electromagnetic frequencies generated by living organisms.

Successful regeneration requires a balanced immune cell response, with the recruitment of accurately polarized immune cells in an appropriate quantity.2 Here is where PEMF could have an influential role in the inflammatory process and thereby support tissue regeneration.

  • The magnetic fields help you to increase electrolytes and ions. This naturally influences electrical changes on a cellular level and influences cellular metabolism. It works with your body’s own recovery processes to help relieve chronic pain.

  • Research has shown that daily use of PEMF therapy can alter stress responses by acting directly on the nervous system, glands, cells, tissues, and organs. By acting on the hypothalamus and increasing excretion of adrenaline, PEMF has been shown to inhibit activation of the sympathetic nervous system and adrenal glands, while preventing a decrease in the body’s ability to resist stress.

  • PEMF has shown to reduce inflammation and pain, as it improves circulation and regenerates blood cells. Better functioning cells help the body synthesize collagen, a major part of muscle elasticity which can ultimately result in an increase in range of motion and flexibility.

  • When magnetic field passes through the skin into the underlying tissue (i.e. muscle) and may relax capillary walls, thereby boosting blood flow to the painful area. They can also help prevent the muscle spasms that cause many forms of pain by interfering with muscle contractions. Also, they may interfere with the electrochemical reactions that take place within nerve cells, impeding their ability to transmit pain messages to the brain.

  • Blood microcirculation is improved by a pulsed magnetic field. There is an increase in vascular blood filling and an acceleration of capillary blood flow under its action. This makes it possible to boost the delivery of nutrients to the organs and quickly eliminate metabolic products more quickly.

  • Muscles usually tend to be sore and tensed after athletic activity. PEMF therapy helps in relieving these and other effects of intensive athletic activity, including the accumulation of lactic acid. The production of lactic acid is reduced by decreasing or eliminating the need for anaerobic respiration. PEMF therapy therefore aids the athlete to recover as fast as possible from the effects of the rigorous physical activity. Athletes take two to three days to recover from competitions. However, those who use PEMF therapy can recover at a much faster rate.
